Book No. 6 of 2020
A super light, quick palate cleanser in between bleaker reads; the plot is cheesy but I loved how Kinsella nailed those specific relatable anxieties you have in your 20s (and touched on income inequality and privilege). She also goes after the whole culture of image crafting and throws some well-deserved shade on Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop-y “wellness” trends.
I was also unexpectedly delighted at passages that were a love letter to London (one of my favorite cities in the world) and for the subversion of the (patronizing and sexist) Hallmark-movie-esque trope of the big city girl finding her true self in her small hometown.
