Book No. 49 of 2020
Clearly I’m on some “read all of Amy Tan’s books” kick because this is the fourth Amy Tan book I’ve read this year. This is one of her more devastating books, imho; I was torn up by the tragic endings of Tan’s story-within-a-story.
Tan does themes of motherhood/guardianship really well (especially when it comes to found mothers) and this is probably one of the books where this theme is the most poignant.
Also, I want to eat so many preserved duck eggs now.
(My little book reviews are getting so much shorter now because I’m constantly distracted by Animal Crossing and my cat.)

Pretty much all of Amy Tan’s other books, haha.
